Britcar 24 at Silverstone 2008
I first heard about Britcar 24 when Top Gear took part last year and remember thinking that it would be great to go and watch it some time. A year later, and thanks to the generous Mr Dawe in car 45, myself and the family headed up the M40 to watch the action.
Arriving just in time to see the start of the Porsche race, my daughter unsurprisingly backed the pink one. We all enjoyed watching the other races and the air displays and soon it was time for the main event. The start was marred by a huge crash that left one driver in serious condition who, at the time of writing, is still in hospital. An hour was lost in clearing up the detritus from the crash and also the oil slick that had been put down by another car meaning that at one stage the safety car was in 9th place. We stayed for a little longer but the hunger pangs were calling and the temperature dropping so it was time to go. Full credit goes to the marshals and everyone involved in clearing the crash and a big thank you once again to Angus.
I hope to go again next year to catch some night shots, see you there.
