Well another year has gone and new experiences gained. 2011 definitely had some high points on the car front but some extremely low ones on the personal front, meaning I was only able to attend 9 different events, with only a single Breakfast Club and PH meet amongst them.

Kicking off the year was the Saywell track day at Goodwood where the newest member to the fleet was a 599 GTO. Also in attendance was the first public outing for BAC with their MONO, a car which IÕve seen many times since.

Over 130 exotic cars descended on Cliveden house and the sun once again obliged for the day. The following weekend was the Dads Day Out over at Dunsfold. My daughter enjoys this every year, this time in a 355 with Larni exhaust. In 2012 this event will span two days so should raise even more money for a worthy cause. Gumball 3000 was again in town, although this time it was mid-week and starting from Covent Garden. Whilst the rain meant I got a good soaking it did help thin the crowds out and also make from some evocative shots.

My only Goodwood Breakfast Club of the year was the June Sporting Legends one where I was quite taken with the old Bentley in the car park. On the topic of Goodwood, the Festival of Speed was the highlight of the year. I had some test drives and rides during the Thursday Moving Motor Show which I thought was great but this was eclipsed on the Saturday when in the morning I got a ride up in the Fiat Abarth 695 and in the afternoon I drove the prototype Lexus LFA Nubrig with my wife and daughter somewhere in the crowd cheering me along.

Keeping in the area my only PH event was the visit to the Rolls Royce factory where my daughter and nephew had fun and for the most part behaved themselves. After missing last years Wilton House event I made sure I got to it this year, even though it meant a 4am start. Still, being in a 6.0 Lamborghini Diablo VT kept me alert. I was also able to have my first proper look around both the new Lamborghini Aventador and McLaren MP4-12C.

Rounding off my year was the all-new Top Gear Live show where I was also helping out LCUK on the Friday. The benefit of this meant I was able to get some good shots and video without the crowds.
